Gleason’s Gym is the oldest active boxing gym in the USA. We have been open since 1937, and are currently in our third home, in the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge, in the area now affectionately known as DUMBO.
The gym is 14,000 square feet, with 14 feet ceilings. There are 16 windows, which allow natural and direct sunlight from 9am – 4pm daily. The windows are 80 inches tall by 40 inches wide. Florescent lighting is available at all other times. The gym walls are painted red with black columns and gray floors. There are numerous electrical outlets. Total power is three phases of 600 amps.
There are three full size boxing rings, and one full size wrestling ring, with different colored canvas – Television blue or red. There are a number of hanging bags of varying sizes, double end bags and uppercut bags. A selection of cardio equipment is also available including treadmills, steppers, rowers and stationery bikes. We have an assortment of free weights.
Trainers and fighters, both male and female, are also available for consultation or extra work. Our specialists include World champion boxing trainers, a World Champion Kick boxing trainer and a World Champion Muay Thai Boxing trainer.
We have a variety of office suites available. These include executive workplaces and traditional boxing offices complete with fantastic collections of boxing memorabilia you will not find anywhere else in the World! The offices can also double up as private changing or make up rooms.
Both Male and Female locker rooms are on the premises and include lockers, benches and showers.
The gym is accessible via a two-flight stairwell, with freight elevator service available twenty fours a day, seven days a week.
The gym is a habitual haunt for all the media given our history and current list of Champions. Therefore both our members and staff are used to your routine and are more than happy to deal with your requests. You will have free movement around the gym and the members will move out of your area or will remain in the background if you desire.
There are very few restrictions when shooting at Gleason’s Gym.
Entrances, Exits, and Portals The gym is accessible via a two-flight stairwell and a 24 hour self-service freight elevator free of charge.
There are three full-size boxing rings and one full-size wrestling ring. Each are regularly re-canvassed in sharp Television Red or Blue. Rings will be emptied and dedicated to shoots on request.
